Dr. Rahaei: Large Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to Open Soon at Amirkabir University of Technology
The head of Amirkabir University of Technology announced the opening of a large artificial intelligence laboratory at this university and said: "We conduct research activities in almost all technical and engineering fields in the faculties of Amirkabir University of Technology and have also produced good products." According to the Public Relations of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Alireza Rahaei emphasized during a ceremony to honor Olympiad and outstanding students of the university, "What we have repeatedly heard from various tribunes in the past two or three decades is the emphasis on the importance of science and knowledge, to the extent that the country's development is linked to the development of science, technology, and innovation." He also mentioned that it is widely discussed that science is considered one of the main drivers of productivity and innovation, and different authorities pay special attention to science and scientists, and emphasize that scientific elites should have a special place in the management of the country and their opinions and perspectives should be used.
He further stated: "Today, if a country wants to demonstrate its power to other nations, it talks about its position and scientific advancements, while in the past military power was considered the factor of superiority among countries. But today, countries with high scientific advancements feel superior. Although in our country, officials at all levels emphasize the importance of the development of science and knowledge, they attach special importance to it, and students in this institution have a special place."
The head of Amirkabir University of Technology added: "Alongside scientific and educational activities, over the past few decades, good research activities have been carried out at the university, and our university's comprehensive plan is a well-organized set that has led to a good educational program. Our graduates have found good positions both inside and outside the country, and today there is a high demand for attracting them."
He said: "In the field of research, during the years 2011 to 2014, major national projects were proposed to address the country's urgent and important needs, and special facilities and budgets were allocated to them. In fact, at that time, 43 major national projects were proposed. For example, the discussion of intelligent power distribution networks, designing and building medium-sized aircraft, transportation, and the national information network were proposed. Out of the 43 major national projects, 16 projects were assigned to this university as the main university, and as a result, we achieved significant progress."
Rahaei emphasized: "We conduct research activities in almost all technical and engineering fields in the faculties of Amirkabir University of Technology and have also produced good products."
The head of Amirkabir University of Technology announced the extensive and large-scale research activities of the university in four important technical and engineering areas, stating: "The first is related to the aerospace industry and its development, including aircraft design. The second is the development in the maritime industries. Fortunately, the maritime industry has given good orders to the university. Admission without examination for postgraduate studies from among top talents has been unlocked with new methods at Amirkabir University of Technology.
The head of the Department of Talented and Olympiad Students at Amirkabir University of Technology announced the implementation of the plan to admit postgraduate students without examination from among the top talents at this university using new methods, stating: "The admission of these individuals exceeds the capacity of the faculties."
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Iman Sharifi, at a ceremony honoring the Olympiad and distinguished students of this university, stated that in this event, students with entrance rankings of less than 500 in the undergraduate entrance exam are present. He added: "One of the measures we have implemented this year is to establish communication with the final years of high school with the aim of familiarizing them with engineering disciplines and with this university."
Sharifi mentioned that organizing educational tours for students is one of the programs of this university to familiarize students with this scientific institution and emphasized: "We hope that with this initiative, we can elevate engineering disciplines and other fields that have received less attention in recent years to their rightful place."
A faculty member of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology noted: "In addition to this initiative, we have also invited individuals from the industrial sectors. These industrial sectors are supporters of gifts that are given to students." He referred to this as a platform for mutual familiarity between the industry and top students and the university's connection with the industry.
Sharifi said: "24 students achieved honors by obtaining rankings of less than 15 in the scientific Olympiads of the country in 1402 (Solar Hijri year) at this university."
He stated that this year a total of 37 individuals achieved rankings of less than 50 in the scientific Olympiads of the country, adding: "The highest rankings we had were the first rank in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering in the field of stem cells and tissue engineering, the second rank from the faculties of electrical engineering, computer, materials, and metallurgy, and the third rank from the Faculty of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering."
The head of the Department of Talented and Olympiad Students at Amirkabir University of Technology noted: "In comparison to the past 3 years, the number of Olympiad individuals with rankings lower than 15 accepted at this university shows a good leap this year, with 24 individuals. Last year, there were 16 individuals, and in 1400 (Solar Hijri year), the number was 18."
Sharifi reminded that individuals with rankings lower than 15 in the scientific Olympiads can continue their postgraduate studies without an exam and in addition to the capacity of the faculties at Amirkabir University of Technology.
He said: "This year, for the first time, we initiated the admission of students without an exam in the master's and doctoral programs in a professor-centered manner with the efforts of the Ministry of Science. In this method, 49 students registered for professor-centered postgraduate and doctoral studies, with 27 of them at the master's level."
The head of the Department of Talented and Olympiad Students at this university added: "The admission process is such that if individuals meet the criteria for talented students, in addition to the capacity of the faculties, they can start their master's or doctoral studies with the agreement of a professor."
He mentioned the collaboration of the Tehran Elite Foundation with the university and proposed increasing the provision of facilities to the elites. He stated that the Tehran Elite Foundation has promised to provide facilities for the university. Sharifi added that they have revived the Office of Elite Productivity and that two ambassadors, who are university graduates, are stationed there by the Tehran Elite Foundation.
