Fabrication of Multilayer Nanofiber Membranes Using Plant Extracts and Seashells

Researchers at Amirkabir University of Technology have succeeded in modifying the biocompatible polymer of chitosan with the help of plant extracts to create multilayer membranes that can be used to prevent adhesions in surgery and at the same time, become fixed on the wound site without the need for sutures due to the presence of a layer of bioadhesive inspired by oysters (biped).

Nona Soleimanpour, a PhD student at AUT and the executer of "Preparing a biocompatible polymer based on clay minerals" project, said: "The formulation we provided in this project can also be used as a precursor to prepare antibiotic wound adhesives to treat infection and inflammation.

Amirkabir University of Technology's team was ranked 29th in the ICPC World Programming Competition. 117 teams participated in the ICPC World Programming Competition which was held in Russia.
